Send Flowers to Borlänge, Sweden

Borlänge is an industrial town in Dalarna, about 15 kilometres from Falun, built around a steelworks and a paper mill on the Dalälven river. It is the birthplace of the tenor Jussi Björling and a gateway to the lakes and red cottages of the Dalarna countryside. Relatives abroad send flowers here for birthdays, anniversaries and sympathy.

Mother's Day in Sweden is the last Sunday of May. Dalarna is the heartland of Midsommar, with flower-decked maypoles raised in every village around Borlänge, and the Swedish national day on 6 June is marked here with folk costume and flowers. Funeral flowers with a printed ribbon are sent to the church, usually two or three weeks after the death.

Orders placed before midnight local time are delivered the next day. The florist phones the recipient first, so a phone number is required, and reschedules if nobody is home. Roses, lilies, tulips, mixed bouquets and plants are available in Borlänge; in the countryside villages the florist may suggest a closely equivalent arrangement if a flower is not stocked.
