Send Flowers to Falun, Sweden

Falun is the county town of Dalarna, built around a copper mine that is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and the origin of the red paint on Swedish cottages. It has a ski stadium at Lugnet, a compact old centre and the lakes and villages of Dalarna all around. Families abroad send flowers here for birthdays, new babies and sympathy.

Swedish Mother's Day is the last Sunday in May, and Falun florists prepare for it as their busiest weekend. Midsommar is celebrated in Dalarna more strongly than anywhere, with flower-decked maypoles and folk costume in the villages around Falun. Funeral flowers with a ribbon are sent to the chapel before the service.

Orders placed before midnight Swedish time are delivered the next day. We need the recipient's phone number so the florist can call ahead and rearrange if nobody is in. Roses, lilies, gerberas, mixed bouquets and potted plants are available in Falun; in the lake villages the florist may suggest a closely equivalent arrangement if a flower is not stocked.
