Send Flowers to Luleå, Sweden

Luleå is the main city of Norrbotten in the far north of Sweden, on the Gulf of Bothnia about 900 kilometres from Stockholm. It has a technical university, a steelworks and an archipelago of islands; the church village of Gammelstad is a UNESCO site. Families abroad send flowers for birthdays, new babies and condolences to relatives living this far north.

Swedish Mother's Day falls on the last Sunday in May, when the ice has only recently left the harbour in Luleå. Midsommar is celebrated under a sun that barely sets, with flower crowns and birch leaves. Funerals are held a few weeks after a death, and flowers with a ribbon go to the chapel.

Order before midnight Swedish time and delivery takes place the following day. The florist calls the recipient, so a mobile number is needed, and rearranges if nobody is in. Roses, lilies, mixed bouquets and potted plants are stocked in Luleå; in the archipelago and inland villages the florist may propose a close equivalent if a flower is not available.
