Send Flowers to Östersund, Sweden

Östersund is the only city in Jämtland, in the middle of Sweden on the shore of Lake Storsjön, with the ski resort of Åre about an hour to the west. It is a winter sports town with a biathlon stadium and a lake monster legend. Families abroad send flowers for birthdays, new babies and times of mourning.

Swedish Mother's Day on the last Sunday in May often arrives while snow still lingers on the hills around Östersund. Midsommar is celebrated with flower crowns and birch branches, and Alla helgons dag in early November brings candles and wreaths to the graves. For a funeral, flowers with a printed ribbon are sent to the church a few weeks after the death.

Order before midnight Swedish time for next-day delivery. The florist phones the recipient first, so please give a phone number, and rearranges if nobody is in. Roses, lilies, mixed bouquets and potted plants are stocked in Östersund; for the mountain villages the florist may suggest a close equivalent if a specific flower is not available.
